What is the purpose of a dakimakura?

A dakimakura (抱き枕; from daki 抱き "to embrace or cling" and makura 枕 "pillow") is a type of large pillow from Japan. The word is often translated to English as body pillow. In Japan, dakimakura are similar to Western orthopedic body pillows, and are commonly used by Japanese youth as "security objects".

How to clean my dakimakura?

All our dakimakura covers (Peach Skin, Smooth Knit, Natural Velvet and 2 way tricot) can support machine wash. DO NOT use chlorine or bleach during wash. Light~medium wash and iron at low temperature. Wash separately from other items to prevent colour transfer. Don't leave it in a wet state after washing. Wring it dry. Avoid spin-dry and avoid using a dryer to tumble dry.

Cleaning Steps:

1. Remove Daki Cover: To begin, carefully remove the dakimakura cover from the pillow.

2. Place in Washer: Place your dakimakura in the washing machine with bleach-free soap.

3. Run Washer Cold: Run washer on delicate (hand wash) at the coldest temperature available.

4. Wring Out Water: Gently wring out excess water.

5. Hang Dry: Hang to dry completely.
